Lifting the Pot

As we all know Marijuana is the world’s most commonly cultivated, trafficked, and used illicit drug. What most of you don’t know though is that Marijuana use was legal for most of human history, until the early 20th century. Between 1916 and 1931, 29 U.S. states banned the use of marijuana. The Marihuana Tax Act of 1937 essentially made cannabis illegal across the U.S. Many other countries outlawed marijuana during the first half of the century, with more nations following suit in subsequent decades.

The last few years have generated a major push towards the legalization of pot all around the world. The concept of having the ability to go to a store and legally purchase the drug is not something entirely new, as countries like Netherlands and more specifically cities like Amsterdam have been popular tourist destination for pot users for years. Until recently the rest of the world was strongly against the legalization of marijuana, but something drastic changed few years ago. A lot of independent research findings have allowed us to learn more about the drug and the apparent benefits that come with using it for medical purposes. Once considered an illicit substance, it is still deemed a controlled drug under federal government guidelines. However, the stigma is being shed at a breathtaking speed, and it appears marijuana is on its way to the mainstream. The effectiveness of marijuana for therapeutic objectives is augmenting momentum across the world due to current legalizations in multiple nations. Medicinal hemp is used for the medication of persistent diseases, such as malignancy, arthropathy, and neurological maladies, such as stress, panic attacks, Alzheimer’s sickness, and Parkinson’s disorders.

However, as everything else there are pros and cons of certain consumption methods of marijuana. The numerous conflicting conclusions of smoking cannabis, which involve the composition of mucus, prolonged cough, and respiratory infections such as COPD, will act as the restraint for the market growth

At any rate, as this push towards legalization is gathering steam on a global scale marijuana is garnering significant attention from investors, manufacturers, and researchers.
